"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

"Oh, you can't help that" said the Cat "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.

"You must be," said the Cat "or you wouldn't have come here"

Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Hello there! We have finally came back on the blog, we would like to share pictures and tales about our last party planned for Monica, a lovely girl 11 years old. The customer asked us to plan a party for her nephew Monica but it was not a birthday party request; it was just a celebration of joy and happiness, a moment to share with friends and family. Our task was choosing the party theme/mood and then looking for the appropriate venue, the right decorations, the healthy food, beverage, and the interesting activities for the little guests.

As 30 years old “big girls” (that’s what we are!) we immediately thought to the famous “Merry un-birthday party” celebrated by Alice drinking tea with the Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the asleep Dormouse. In Lewis Carroll’s novel a very wired tea party is described, it has been lasting for weeks, maybe months and the guests taking part to it have no time to wash things (like cups) between whiles so they keep moving round the table using all the clean cups left. In this moment of the story, the Disney’s Mad Hatter sings “Imagine, just one birthday every year! Ah, but there are three hundred and sixty four unbirthdays! A very merry unbirthday, now blow the candle out my dear and make your wish come true!”.  We absolutely fell in love with this song about 20 years ago and we’re still in love with it nowadays…that’s why it was so simple to choose Monica’s party theme. The theme would have been ” the very merry un-birthday tea party”!

The best venue for a Victorian novel inspired tea party was a bookshop, a cozy and welcoming room that we personalized using several colorful details: garlands, paper flowers, a funny photo booth for guests, decorative fluffy balls, pastel paper rosettes and brighten signs hanging the wall and showing the path to discover the “Wonderland”. All of these decorative details were handmade by us.

We organized two different spaces: the reading room and the tearoom. In the first one kids read the chapter “A mad tea” from the Lewis Novel “Alice in wonderland” in the second one they had tea. We set up many tables for guests and the bar where exhibit the kettle, the cups, the tea and sugar bags and the glasses. What about food? Chocolate cookies, fruit candies, little pastries and two cream cakes, a traditional one and a gluten free one.

Kids had much fun reading books, taking funny pictures, eating good foods, dancing and singing their favorite songs. There is no bigger satisfaction than seeing surprise on the “un-birthday girl” and her friends’ faces! That means our job has worked...and we’re happy about that! It was a perfect afternoon tea party and we can’t wait more to share pictures with you! Enjoy the photo galley!

Talk you soon people…in the meantime Let's all congratulate us with another cup of tea
A very merry unbirthday to you!”
